Two guys, one gap in the market

BULGR started in 2023 under the name Taste of Sensation, when we became the exclusive reseller of Andrew Christian underwear in South Africa.

It began with a simple question: why should "feel good" be a women's-only experience? Designer underwear had been making women feel confident and amazing for years — so where was the equivalent for men?

We wanted in. So we did what any self-respecting underwear enthusiasts would do: we imported it ourselves.

The looong wait

That's when we discovered the catch. Getting our hands on Andrew Christian from South Africa meant weeks of waiting, and shipping costs from California that made our eyes water more than the exchange rate did.

There had to be a better way — for us, and for every other South African who deserved to feel that good without the wait or the price tag. So we decided to bridge the gap ourselves.

Learning the hard way

We were two guys in our early twenties with more enthusiasm than experience, and we made just about every mistake a new business can make. But we learned. Slowly, sometimes painfully, but we learned — and we haven't stopped since.

At one point, we got caught with our pants down (pun very much intended) financially, and had to pause the business altogether.

Back, and better for it

Mid this year, we decided to put everything we'd learned back into building this properly. Every hard lesson, every misstep, every "we should've known better" moment — it's all baked into how we run things now.

Where we're headed

Our dream is simple: to become a one-stop shop for all things "feel good." We're building it one product, one partnership, at a time — and we're always on the lookout for amazing businesses to team up with along the way.

We're not the finished article. But we're honest about that, and we're having fun figuring it out.
